Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard will deliver 150 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 to Guatemala, which are packaged in Mexico with the active principle developed in Argentina.
This morning, the federal official boarded a Mexican Navy plane to travel to the Central American country and deliver the immunizers.
Simultaneously, two other aircraft left for Honduras and El Salvador, countries to which just over 250,000 doses will be donated together.
«Taking off by plane of the Mexican Air Force with 150 thousand doses of AstraZeneca on board, we are going to Guatemala,» the Secretary of Foreign Relations tweeted.
“Another plane to Honduras and one more to El Salvador. It is a donation of doses packaged in Mexico whose active substance was made in Argentina. United we are better ”.
In a message before boarding the aircraft, the Foreign Minister said that this donation is part of the policy of the government of President López Obrador to prevent the hoarding of vaccines.
Ebrard emphasized that Mexico has been a promoter for countries with more access to antigens to make efforts so that poorer nations can have vaccines for their populations.
